Dr Rahmatullah
Dr. Rahmatullah Abdul Ahad is a founder Trustee and Governing Board member of SAHULAT Microfinance Society and has been associated with the Society since early days. Born on 1st June 1952, Dr. Rahmatullah is Chief Promoter, Chairman & Managing Director of Jan Seva Cooperative Credit Society Ltd. Mumbai. Dr. Rahmatullah is renowned Economist and Educationist.
Dr. Rahmatullah is promoter & founder secretary of various organizations working for economic upliftment for the poor mass particularly among Minority community. He has directorships of many organizations/institutions namely - Chief Promoter and founder secretary of All India Council of Muslim Economic Upliftment (AICMEU) registered as public trust in Mumbai in 1982 and continue to serve as Managing Trustee till date, Indian Center for Islamic Finance - Founder Trustee and Governing Board member till date, Trustee and President of Indian Literacy Mission Trust Mumbra Thane, running a school namely ‘SADIA Urdu Primary and Secondary School’ since 2000 to present, Founder member and member of the Board of Trustees (1990-2008) of The Students Islamic Trust (SIT) registered in as public trust for educational scholarship and assistance, Joined as Trustee of Ideal Academy Trust Mumbai in 1984 and served as its secretary and chairman school committee—Ideal High School and Junior College Trombay Mumbai for 14 years (till 1997), Chief promoter and founder secretary of AICMUE’s Baitulmaal Cooperative Credit Society Ltd registered in 1984 as INTEREST FREE credit cooperative society registered under the Maharashtra Cooperative Societies Act 1965 and continue to serve on its board as member, Founder member and member of the governing board of Muslim Association for Advanced Science (MAAS) Aligarh based international NGO registered in 1985, Member of the Board of Trustees (for four terms of three years each) of Muslim Education Trust (MET) Delhi based public trust established for recycling of refund of loan scholarship amounts by IDB scholarship holders in India, Founder and Convener of Tehrik e Zakat India established as department of AICMEU for promotion of planned, productive and organized collection and disbursement of Zakat in India in 1987, Chief promoter and founder director of Islamic chamber of commerce and industry, a registered company under section 25 of ICA 1956 with the purpose of promoting value based trade, commerce and industry among minorities and backward classes in the country, Community coordination initiative –a registered society/National NGO for empowerment of NGO’S through awareness, training and networking, Janseva coop credit society –Chief promoter and Chairman and Managing Director.
Dr. Rahmatullah did his M.A. (Economics) from AMU (Aligarh Muslim University) in 1973 and got his Doctorate degree in 1981 from the same university. He further added many diplomas and degrees from National & International Institutes such as – MS-CIT from MSBTE Mumbai-2003, Diploma in Islamic Banking and Insurance (DIBI) in 1997 from Institute of Islamic Banking and Insurance, Leicester, (U.K.)
He is a renowned academician. He has a teaching experience of more than thirty five years. He retired as Associate Professor and Head, Department of Business Economics A I’s A P College of Commerce & Economics an affiliate Mumbai University, Mumbai, India.
