Prof. K. A. Siddique Hassan

Prof. K. A. Siddique Hassan (5 May 1945 – 6 April 2021) was an Islamic scholar, social worker, change-maker and orator from Kerala, India. Born in Kodungallur in Thrissur district in 1945, he had his education in Rouzathul Uloom Arabic College, Farook and Islamia College Shantapuram. After a post graduation in Arabic, he joined The Government College teaching service and served in University College, Maharajas College, Cochin and Government Colleges in Koyilandi, Kodenchery and Kasargod.

He was the chief architect of the establishment of 'Vision 2016' focusing on the sectors such as Education, Healthcare, Economic Development, Women Empowerment, Skill Development, Social Welfare, Community Development, Disaster Management, Micro-Finance and Civil rights Protection. Prof. Siddique Hassan is also the Founding President of Sahulat Microfinance Society.

He was one of the founding members of Madhyamam Daily (and Weekly), now one of the leading newspapers in the State of Kerala and the first Indian newspaper to publish from seven nations. He has also served as general secretary of the Delhi-based Human Welfare Foundation, Human Welfare Trust, Society for Bright Future, Association for the Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) and Medical Service Society.

Prof. Siddique Hassan was awarded with Islam Online Star Award in 2010 and The First Ibrahim Sulaiman Sait Sahib Foundation Award in 2015. He was also presented with the Imam Haddad Excellence Award (2015) for outstanding work in the fields of education, public service, human rights struggle and Islamic movement for the upliftment of the Muslim minority in India.
